Attacking the roots of poverty
After almost four decades of development aid and technical cooperation the number of the poor in the developing countries is increasing. It has become obvious that transfer of technical knowledge and financial resources alone are no longer solution for alleviation of mass poverty.Current development strategies need to be reconsidered. Without active involvment of the poor in improving their lot, poverty will continue. The authors of this publication discuss ways and means of enabling tje poor to cope with rapid change, to mobilise people’s own potential, to make better use of available resources, to join forces in local organisations and to >>leran from the future<<, where past experience ceases to be a reliable source of knowledge.
